Job Description: Wyandotte Services - On Contract to WAPA - Folsom, CA
Background: Western Area Power Administration’s (WAPA) statutory mission is to market and deliver cost-based hydroelectric power to the Central Valley Project and other customers, and provide other related services. Western’s service area covers 1.3 million square miles. WAPA’s wholesale power customers provide service to millions of consumers in 15 western states. WAPA operates and maintains 17,033 miles of transmission lines, 300 substations and other related facilities. This position will provide Project Management services to the Sierra Nevada Region (SNR) of WAPA in Folsom, CA.
Summary: The candidate will be responsible for managing projects in the (WAPA), Sierra Nevada Region (SNR) using standard project management tools, techniques and practices. The PM takes the lead in the coordination and management of a portfolio of assigned utility projects, and assumes responsibility for meeting each set of project objectives. Projects usually require coordination with and collaboration among discrete functional areas such as engineering, maintenance, environmental management, information technology, operations, procurement and administration. The work will include assignments located in the SNR, requiring the PM to establish and manage regional teams, as well as cross-regional teams when required. The PM is the primary point of contact for one or more project sponsors, and will be expected to be available by Government provided cellular telephone.
Scope of responsibilities include: Project guidance, plans, and procedures to enable successful project management support for a range of design and construction projects. Coordinate project schedules, develop cost estimates, conduct design and construction meetings, review specifications, and provide project status. Perform functions such as, but not limited to, risk analysis, scheduling, and project functional tracking.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management, risk analysis, quality management, budgeting and cost control, and procurement management
• Minimum of 3 years experience scheduling of tasks and working with field craft, equipment vendors, contractors.
• PMP certification preferred
• Proficient in using MSProject 2013
• Successful candidate will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and be able to work independently, be organized and able to work in a fast paced, team environment.
• Bachelor’s Degree

• Must have good interpersonal, negotiation, and problem solving skills
• Must be able to plan, prioritize, and be detail oriented.
• Demonstrate experience in contract management and administration of complex/multiple projects with several contracts running concurrently.
• Combined five years experience in transmission and distribution systems, substations, or generation in the utility industry.
• Experienced technical background, with emphasis in substation electrical design and construction
