Job Description: Summary

Wyandotte Services is a leading provider of professional services and solutions to the Department of Energy. We are recruiting an Adjudication Specialist in support of the Department of Energy Oak Ridge Office, Office of Safeguards, Security and Emergency Management contract. The Adjudication Specialist will support the Supervisor in Processing in all aspects of meeting the requirements of the contract. DOE Q or Top secret clearance is preferred.

Specific Duties:

The Adjudication Specialist is responsible for daily activities related to Personnel Security discipline of the security program. The Specialist will:
Prepare reports on investigations resulting from interviews conducted during background investigations
Prepare summary sheets on the results of investigations for all assigned cases. In case of derogatory information, drafts detailed evaluation of the adverse information. When the information is insufficient to make a recommendation regarding the disposition of the case the Adjudication Specialist must draft a list of recommended questions for lines of inquiry for follow on investigations
Adjudicate personal background investigations for suitability for employment and/or issuance of a security clearance
Work assignments may also include but are not limited to: review Personnel Security Questionnaires (SF-86 and SF-85P), verify information submitted on applications, contact subjects via approved methods to complete information on background investigations forms, retrieve data from credit bureaus, request Local Agency Checks, review reports to include criminal records, employment verifications, etc. and all parts of completed OPM/NBIB investigations.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications:
NTC PER-101 (Personnel Security Specialist Adjudication Training)
5+ years’ experience in a personnel security adjudication and investigative analyst field
5+ years conducting security-related adjudications
3+ years of technical experience in the areas of:
Safeguards and Security
Knowledge of DOE operations
Experience in working in a secure, controlled environment
Knowledge of DOE Orders and Directives
Knowledge of Personnel Security Programs and Directives

Minimum Requirements:
Excellent analytical skills, written communication skills, and proficiency MS Word and Excel, and other MS Office products.
The position requires handling of business sensitive, proprietary, CUI, and classified matter up to and including Secret-Restricted Data. Experience and/or knowledge of DOE security directives/orders and experience assessing programs and maintaining programs in compliance with these directives is a must.
Proficient DOE report writing experience is strongly preferred
Experience interpreting local agency checks and credit reports
Ability to learn and become proficient in site-specific computer databases and programs

Education:

Must have completed or be able to complete the training courses listed below:
NTC PER-101 Personnel Security Specialist Adjudication Training
NTC PER-203 Advanced Personnel Security Adjudication and Interviewing
NTC PER-300 Administrative Review Hearing Procedures

Clearance:

The position requires handling of business sensitive, proprietary, CUI, and classified matter up to and including Secret-Restricted Data. As such a DOE Q or Top secret clearance is preferred
