Job Description: Wyandotte Services, Wyandotte, OK has a future opportunity to provide experienced on site Engineering Technician V / Project Manager for a long-term contract for the U.S. Department of Energy, Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), Desert Southwest Region, Phoenix AZ.

Summary

WAPA is a Power Marketing Administration and part of the Department of Energy (DOE). WAPA manages Federal electric power transmission and markets power across 15 western and central states. WAPA annually markets and transmits more than 10,000 megawatts of power and 37 billion kWh of energy from hydroelectric power plants owned and operated by the Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the International Boundary and Water Commission. WAPA’s DSW regional office is located at 615 S 43rd Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona, which will be the primary on-site location during the performance of this contract, with other elements of work being located at various facilities within the region as identified in the PWS.

Scope of Work

Candidate will assist Government Engineers and Project Managers in reviewing construction specifications and associated documents for completeness, errors and omissions using WAPA guidelines. Reviews the specifications packages, drawings and other associated documents to ensure that they are error-free and complete.

Assists Government Engineers and Project Managers in reviewing designs and specifications for various complex systems or equipment. The specifications and drawings shall show enough instruction and detail for a construction contractor to successfully construct the project.

Candidate will work closely with Government Engineers and Project Managers to develop materials lists for projects, prepare asset sheets for new equipment, removal of old equipment and for substation facilities and transmission line sites, project schedules, and closeout projects.

Candidate will provide technical design support to Government Engineers and Project Managers during the design of transmission lines and substation facilities in estimating, risk analysis, scheduling and project tracking.

Attend meetings to take notes on action items and provide project status updates as needed with internal WAPA employees and external customers. This includes working independently facilitating meetings to provide project status updates with internal Government or contractor employees only.

Provides financial reports and status of assigned projects to Federal Engineers and Project Managers.

Experience/Education Requirements

Candidate shall have knowledge of the practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters in the following areas:
•Project management techniques such as, but not limited to Microsoft® Project scheduling and cost estimating.
•Electrical, construction, and maintenance of high voltage transmission systems.
•Project management experience in high voltage transmission systems.
•Project Management Professional/Project Management Institute (PMP/PMI) Certification preferred.
•Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred). Utility project management experience may be substituted in lieu of educational requirements.
•Minimum three (3) plus years of progressive development in the power industry in project management in construction or technical project management support.
•Must be a US Citizen
