Job Description: Wyandotte Services, Wyandotte, OK has an immediate requirement to provide experienced Power Line System CADD Support for a long-term contract for the U.S. Department of Energy, Western Area Power Administration, Lakewood, CO.

Background: Western Area power Administration’s statutory mission is to market and deliver cost-based hydroelectric power and related services. Western’s service area covers 1.3 million square miles. Western’s wholesale power customers provide service to millions of consumers in 15 western states. Western operates and maintains 17,033 miles of transmission lines, 300 substations and other related facilities. This position will provide Power Line System CADD Support to Western Area Power Administration Lakewood.

Summary: Prepares routine project drawings, such as high-voltage transmission line plan and profile drawings derived from engineer’s layout, sketches or verbal direction.

Responsible for the technical quality, accuracy for the project, assembled documentation packages and drawing sets, proper files and records related to assigned design activities

Understands project scope and ensures drawings are consistent with technical requirements; works to specifications and discipline-associated instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedures.

Update transmission line model utilizing markups to reflect as built conditions, including structure replacement or moves and adding notes. Required to perform unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness and expertise.

May mentor other drafters and designers and coordinate work within discipline group and other discipline groups on projects.


• Extensive knowledge in PLS-CADD software to manipulate electronic data and develop drawings.
• Knowledge of traditional survey data, Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) aerial survey data and various coordinate systems.
• Knowledge in AutoCAD Civil 3D to reference and utilize mapping, survey and topographic data from multiple coordinate systems along with plan and profile drawings
• Ability to make complex computations involving the use of mathematics and plane geometry.
• Knowledge of site development concepts, principle, practices and techniques for transmission lines.
• Knowledge of applicable standards and codes for engineering design applications.
• Skill in planning, preparing and interpreting engineering drawings and markups.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information both orally and in writing.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
• Able to handle multiple projects independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations.
• Must be a US Citizen
• A high school degree or equivalent is required and an associate degree in one of the engineering disciplines, or formal college level drafting course and equivalent work experience in a related engineering discipline.
