Job Description: Wyandotte Services, Wyandotte, OK has an immediate requirement to provide experienced POWER SYSTEM OPERATIONS INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT for Western Area Power Administration Electric Power Training Center, Golden Colorado.


The successful candidate will provide support to the EPTC Program and Technical Services Manager.

General Tasks:
• Provide power operations instructional support to EPTC Program Manager
• Provide assistance to WAPA’s Renewable Resources Program Manager
• Delivers existing EPTC course material using the EPTC miniature power simulator system in accordance with existing lesson plans
• Gives lectures and briefings on specific EPTC subjects using real world experience for students to maximize their learning experience
• Conducts training for EPTC in other areas of instruction including dispatcher, craft training, and specialized programs.
• Develop new power operations courses and modifies existing hydro-power courses to best match current and future training needs of electric power industry students
• Applies course development best practices to meet NERC certification standards, as well as other Continuing Education Units
• Monitors, evaluates, and reports on overall effectiveness of EPTC training programs
• Develops new EPTC training tools and methods
• Emphasizes the need for safe practices and cites the correct safe, approved methods for working with high voltage distribution and transmission line and equipment
• Coordinates workshops and webinars to expand EPTC service offerings
• Assists with EPTC roadmap development and implementation
• Conduct project status reports

Requirements/Qualifications:
• Instructional theory using the ADDIE Model for building effective training and performance support is desired.
• Knowledge of the application of instructional design and delivery practices and concepts
• In-depth practical knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of operation of hydro-power or other power plants, including the integration of generation systems with bulk power transmission
• Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) operation principles and procedures
• Ability to envision and create innovative simulation programs which can effectively replicate real-world conditions and problems often encountered by power plant operators and other power system specialists
• Knowledge of the operation of a number of pieces of specialized equipment such as computers, supervisory control equipment, and automatic generation control equipment and their application in power operations
• Ability to deal effectively with others
• Knowledge of the methods and techniques of instruction including making classroom presentations
• Skill in accurate and effective oral and written communication of technical subject
• Knowledge of Western Area Power Administration and its contractual relationships with firm electric service and transmission customers
• Renewable energy power operations integration understanding and experience
